8″ ARAH Commandos Series 2

The second - and final - series of Commando class figures to be released under the general 8″ ‘Kung-Fu Grip’ GI Joe line includes one spectacular new character and several interesting rehashes. Dark Ninja Master is the new, cool baddie, but we also get two new version of Snake-Eyes - Dojo Snake-Eyes and Samurai Snake-Eyes - as well as a ‘Crime Boss’ version of Destro and the nifty all-silver, serpent-chariot-ridin’ ‘Windfire Cobra Commander’. Since this assortment marks the very last we’ll be seeing of the 8″ GI Joe line, the figures, themselves, are bittersweet. Expand the post for pics.

DARK NINJA MASTER

Neato! The thing I really loved about the eight inch GI Joe line was how inventive, clever, and very playable the figures were. And Dark Ninja Master roars into the final assortment, demonstrating all of those lovable qualities. This is guy is just straight up cool looking - from his translucent red body plastic that allows light to peek eerily between his cool white patterned paint job, to his troll-doll hair, to his immense size, he’s just one of the greatest figures in this line. A lot of fans felt that the Sigma6/8″ series was too ’superhero’ and not ‘military’ enough, and I guess DNM would support that theory, given that he’s a preposterous mix of ghost warrior and uber-ninja. But who cares? It’s a freakin’ awesome action figure! DNM is hooked up with a pair of bladed nunchucks, a wicked long sword, a couple of cleavers, a loincloth full of daggers, a couple of scary death masks, a need pair of ’scissor knuckles’ and big ole scary looking throwing-star-whip-chain thingee. But, perhaps the coolest feature on DNM is the fact that he can hold his daggers and throwing stars between his fingers and toes. Pretty nifty! I wholly recommend you pick this guy up if you see him on the shelves. Check the pics, and try not to let my crappy un-ironed black sheet back-drop detract from your enjoyment of the figure!
