The third boxed set of five figures from the 25th Anniversary GI Joe line is a set of repaints of previously released Cobra figures, with a few new accessories. The Cobra Legions set gives us an all-black version of Cobra Commander, a red-trimmed repaint of Storm Shadow, a re-release of the standard Cobra Trooper, a grey-suited Cobra Vehicle Driver, and a Cobra Air Trooper with a cool jet-pack and face mask. I passed on this set because it’s just a bunch of repaints, but thanks to our friends at JoeBattleLines.com (who so graciously allow us to use their images!) you can see some pics of each fig when you expand the post. …read full article…

The hits just keep on rolling with the 25th Anniversary line. It’s almost hard to keep up! The third series of single pack figures is stacked with ‘fan favorites’. We get classic Joes Shipwreck and Stalker, as well as classic Cobra villains Zartan and Firefly. To sweeten the pot, Hasbro threw in the ‘Red Ninja’ Storm Shadow repaint, who is actually pretty darn cool. Expand the post for all the picture goodness. …read full article…

The first series of single carded figures from the GI Joe 25th Anniversary line features highly-detailed, super-articulated versions of Flint, Cobra Commander, Storm Shadow, Snake-Eyes, and Cobra Officer. Apart from Flint, all of these figures are just repaints of figures released in the debut 5-packs of this line. (Heck, even Flint is just a repaint of Duke from the first 5-pack with a new head). But that didn’t stop me from buying most of this wave. Heh. Expand for pics. …read full article…

The second - and final - series of Commando class figures to be released under the general 8″ ‘Kung-Fu Grip’ GI Joe line includes one spectacular new character and several interesting rehashes. Dark Ninja Master is the new, cool baddie, but we also get two new version of Snake-Eyes - Dojo Snake-Eyes and Samurai Snake-Eyes - as well as a ‘Crime Boss’ version of Destro and the nifty all-silver, serpent-chariot-ridin’ ‘Windfire Cobra Commander’. Since this assortment marks the very last we’ll be seeing of the 8″ GI Joe line, the figures, themselves, are bittersweet. Expand the post for pics. …read full article…

Well, Hasbro has officially canned the 8″ GI Joe line, but there are still a few figs to be released from the final series. One of these last ditch efforts is the second series of ‘military themed’ Combat Squad figures. Basically, these guys are repaints and rehashes of previously released Sigma6 figures. The second, and final, assortment includes Navy Seal Lt. Torpedo, Mountain Scout Sgt. Boulder, and Jungle Warfare Expert Recondo (not to be confused with the Adventure Team Recondo who bares no resemblance to this figure outside of his name… weird, Hasbro. Just weird.). Hasbro continues to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of its 3.75″ toy line with a second series of single carded figures. This time around we get classic characters Lady Jaye, Beachhead, Serpentor, Buzzer, and a Cobra Trooper. This line seems to be going strong with a lot of fan support and some uncharacteristic ‘love’ from Hasbro. You can almost sense that they actually care about the quality of these figures, and how well they are received by the collector community. How odd. Anywho, plenty of pics and uber-insightful toy commentary when you expand the post. …read full article…

While the first series of 8″ scaled ‘Soldier’ class figures to be released following the rebranding of Sigma6 as ‘Kung Fu Grip A Real American Hero’ was pretty spectacular, the follow-up second series was a bit lackluster. This assortment consists of S.W.A.T. team member Lockdown, a Samurai version of Storm Shadow, and an odd purple-and-neon-green repaint of Zartan (officially, ‘Toxic Zartan).
The figures themselves are great, but when two out of three characters in a series are rehashes of previously released figures, my enthusiasm wanes. And since I’m not a huge fan of additional versions of the same character, I passed on the SS an TZ figures and just picked up Lockdown. See my pics and review when you expand the post. …read full article…

The second set of figures released as a 5-pack box set by Hasbro in their 25th Anniversary GI Joe line has a Cobra the Enemy theme and includes classic GI Joe villains Cobra Commander, Storm Shadow, Destro, Baroness, and a generic Cobra Trooper. This set is an outstanding complement to the GI Joe 5-pack and a really great way to kick off the new line. Expand the post for pics and reviews. …read full article…

Hasbro kicked off it’s new collector-friendly, superarticulated, 3 3/4″ GI Joe toy line with two box set 5-packs of classic characters from the original 1980s toy line. The first of these two sets features the GI Joes Duke, Scarlett, Snake-Eyes, Gung Ho, and Roadblock. Each box set comes with a battery operated speaker insert that plays the first couple of verses from the 80s cartoon theme song. Pretty nifty!
